Since the $$is interpreted by our input filter as the beginning of a displayed equation, this could cause problems. The entire expression is in math mode, so the "$$" portion of the expression can be removed.

The problem then, however, is that the \cal tag will be applied to the h. It is best to use \mathcal when in math.
