## BibTeX: how do I get one line spacing between each reference?

Dear all,

I have references created using apalike style. The references are next to each other. However, I would like to have one line spacing between each reference. How could I achieve that please!

Thanks a lot!

### The spacing between

The spacing between bibliography items is controlled by the typesetting specification. In the case where you use apalike.sty, then the formatting of the bibliography is created by apalike.sty. So, to change the formatting you must redefine the formatting. In this case, adding the following to the document preamble does some of what is done in apalike.sty, but changes the spacing between bibliography items.

\makeatletter
\@ifundefined{chapter}{\def\thebibliography#1{\section*{References\@mkboth
{REFERENCES}{REFERENCES}}\list
{\relax}{\setlength{\labelsep}{0em}
\setlength{\itemindent}{-\bibhang}
\itemsep\z@skip\parsep\z@skip
\setlength{\leftmargin}{\bibhang}}
\def\newblock{\hskip .11em plus .33em minus .07em}
\sloppy\clubpenalty4000\widowpenalty4000
\sfcode\.=1000\relax}}%
{\def\thebibliography#1{\chapter*{Bibliography\@mkboth
{BIBLIOGRAPHY}{BIBLIOGRAPHY}}\list
{\relax}{\setlength{\labelsep}{0em}
\setlength{\itemindent}{-\bibhang}
\itemsep\z@skip\parsep\z@skip
\setlength{\leftmargin}{\bibhang}}
\def\newblock{\hskip .11em plus .33em minus .07em}
\sloppy\clubpenalty4000\widowpenalty4000
\sfcode\.=1000\relax}}
\makeatother

### If you mean how to display a

If you mean how to display a field that is in the BibTeX database file (.bib) as part of your citation, then you must modify the BibTeX style file (.bst), which is very difficult (and not recommended).
